antigone | fall 2025 ~
In fall 2025, I was the production dramaturg for the Penn State School of Theatre’s production of Anne Carson’s ‘Antigone’ under the direction of professor Jenny Lamb. Look below to see a timeline of my work!
Spring 2025 - I begin pre-production meetings with the director and design team, where I help streamline the production's thematic vision and conduct supplementary research upon the teams request (click to see my work).
Summer 2025 - Classes take a pause for summer break, but the dramaturg never rests! I dive deep into various translations of 'Antigone'—including Anne Carson's, which our production used—and created a glossary (shown above: dir. Jenny Lamb speaking with the cast during tech week).
Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2025 - Rehearsals begin. Each day of the week, I deliver a presentation to the cast that contextualizes a specific part of the production, and I help guide our table work (click to see my work).
Oct.-Nov. 2025 - I attend various run through rehearsals of the show as the cast nears opening. At each, I act as a second set of eyes for the director, providing comments on thematic clarity and connection between the show's design and action.
Nov. 14, 2025 - Antigone opens! I engage with the audience right away through an opening-night reception speech, as well as with my dramaturgy note in the program, and an interactive digital slideshow to contextualize the show's background and history, made available via QR code in the lobby (click to see my work).
Nov. 17, 18, & 20, 2025 - I am invited to be a guest lecturer for PHIL 136N: Art and Philosophy in Ancient Greece on campus, where I provide insight into my position as a dramaturg and the production as a whole through an in-class question-and-answer session. Later that week, I organize and facilitate two post-show talk backs with students, professors, and community members, accompanied by members of the cast and design team (click to see my work).
